Obituary of Robert A. Tompkins

Robert A. Tompkins, of Groton, NY, passed away at home on December 24, 2020. He was born on November 2, 1937 to Kenneth and Barbara (Grant) Tompkins. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Maryellen (Fenner), brother Kenneth Tompkins Jr. of PA, sister Karalee Lothonton of Canton, NY, and son Kenneth Tompkins of Groton, NY. He is survived by his son Douglas (Kenna) Tompkins of Groton, grandchildren, Austin (Sierra) Tompkins, Morgan of Groton, great-grandson Isreal Tompkins, niece Kimberly (Jeff) Makula of Mexico, NY, cousins Davis Ronkanien of Texas and Linda Frizgerald of Massachusetts, and companion of 45 years, Ella Wheeland and her sons, Chuck and Will Harriger. Bob graduated from Dryden High School and went on to graduate from Morrisville College. He worked at Mohawk Airline in Buffalo, NY returning to Groton in 1958 to run a beef farm on Cobb Street. While operating the farm, Bob was involved with the Boy Scouts and 4H, teaching small engine repair in his garage. He also worked at Borg Warner, retiring from Emerson after 47 years. Bob enjoyed visiting with friends and family and enjoyed his Tuesday night bowling league. He was a loving son, husband, father, friend, and companion. His family would like to say thank you to all of Bob’s doctors, nurses, and Hospice. A special thank you to neighbor and friend, Gerald Holden, Sr. of Groton, Dawn Conant and Richard Mils for all the loving care they gave Bob. At Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.
