Obituary of Lynne Margaret Jenard Rocha

Lynne Margaret Jenard Rocha passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 10th 2021, surrounded by her family, after battling cancer for 21 years. She was resting in her final days adoring the changing colors of the leaves overlooking Cayuga Lake. Lynne was born in Peoria, IL where Ronald Reagan delivered eggs to her grandparents' store. Primarily she was raised in MA and RI where she too raised her four children, until coming to the Ithaca area in 1981. The last 5 months of her life were spent in her favorite place, by the ocean in RI. She attended outdoor movies and orchestras on the beach, and enjoyed her share of sunsets and crashing waves. She ate all her favorite foods, and visited many different beaches. Family and friends were able to picnic, watch movies, enjoy a "weak" margarita and especially play Canasta with her (which she continued to win), until all but the very end. Lynne was blessed with four children, her first born, Michaela Rosa Purdy (Marc), her twins, Paulette Rosa and Paul Rosa (Luanne), and the youngest, Christine Rocha Rosenfeld (Michael). They gave her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Michaela gave her Alexandra whom she lived with most of her life. Alex was her snuggle buddy, movie buddy, and all things music and dance. She attended all of her musicals, orchestra performances and sporting endeavors. Paulette gave Lynne two grandchildren, Aslinn and Ben, and through them, 3 great grandchildren, Chyanne, Noah, and Ellie. Lynne enjoyed cheering on Ben at his soccer games, and Aslinn's cheerleading and was so proud of her military accomplishments. Paul gave his mother two boys Kyle (Matt) and Justin, who blew her away with their amazing, self-taught computer skills. Christine gave her Ethan, who kept her laughing and busy attending his plays and musicals and wasn't afraid to bundle up to watch him play ice hockey. Lynne's grandchildren filled her life to the tippity-top with love, laughs, talent, and always something interesting to do. "Mimi" was a Chauffeur to these kids whom she loved with a passion! Lynne is survived by her sister, Lisa Jenard Lang (John), who also lives in RI, which afforded her lots of sister time, with beaches, canasta, shopping, restaurants, concerts, and even hurricanes to keep them busy. Kim Varone Faria is her niece who was like a second daughter to her and she was lucky enough to see her often over the summers. She also has other cousins in RI, her dear Paul Jenard (Lisa), as well as many other nieces and nephews she loved. Pat Mc Donald, her best friend for more than 50 years, always made the effort to visit her friend whether Lynne was in Ithaca, Virginia, or Rhode Island. Mimi would also want us to mention her "adopted family", the Grinsteins. Yaniv, Iris, Yuval, Roni, and TaI gave Mimi much love and happiness over the years. Anyone that had the opportunity to spend time with this wonderful woman knows she has left an empty place in our hearts forever. Lynne was lucky to have a small army to help with her healthcare. Loving children and their husbands, special grandchildren who helped physically and emotionally, great grandchildren making her laugh, her sister, nieces, friends of the family, and best friend, all made her life worth thriving, and she did. Lynne was predeceased by her mother Verna, father Fernand, sister, Nadia, and grandson, Ben. She was looking forward to seeing them all again. Lynne has chosen a private service by the sea.
