Obituary of Judith Easton Simpson
Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are mourning the loss of Judith Easton Simpson, a beautiful, compassionate, and strong woman, she passed away peacefully to a gentle rain outside her window at her son’s home in Cortland, NY.
Judith was born in Shreveport Louisiana in 1937 to a career military family. She lived in Japan briefly, where she hosted a show called “Living English”. Back in the states, she graduated from American University and fell in love with the West Point cadet from across the street (Donald T Simpson), became a military wife and had three children (all born two years apart in three different states). The family eventually moved to Rochester NY, where she pursued a career in mental health. She got a new degree, worked for the Mental Health Association, then began her own practice teaching mindfulness, visioning and meditation. She married the other love of her life, Robert Conway at an iris farm in Pumpkin Hook, NY. They moved to what became her new and beloved hometown of Belfast Maine. She was passionate about music, nature and loved to dance with abandon.
She is survived by her three children: Marianne (Simpson) Deaton, Andrew Simpson and Tym Simpson, two beloved daughters in law Jan Simpson and Shani Simpson, her grandsons Matthew and Nick Simpson, brothers Bobby and George Easton, and three great grandsons. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many very close friends in Maine and several other places in the world, who will all mourn the loss of her spirit but will keep it close.
She was a student and teacher of Buddhism and above all, championed the power of unconditional love…something the world cannot have enough of.
