Obituary of Rasa Seager

Please share a memory of Rasa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rasa L. Seager, passed away on September 4th, 2017 at the Hospice Care Residence in Ithaca New York. She was born on August 19,1954 in Toronto Canada. She was the daughter of the late Algis Avizius and Eugenia Avizius.

The family emigrated to the United States in 1964 to Chicago, then settled in Long Branch New Jersey. She also lived in Michigan and worked in a logging camp in Saskatchewan. She eventually moved to the Ithaca area.

Rasa was of Lithuanian descent and was fluent with the language. She occasionally baffled authorities(and her husband) with this ability when caught swimming off the trails, having her dog off leash, and generally breaking any number of life's rules too numerous to mention. She was a fan of music and could answer just about any trivia question given her. She had a fond affection for animals, and rescued many a chipmunk from the grasp of her cats. She was an avid gardener and could transform a space into a plot of Eden.

A special time for Rasa was Kucios, the traditional Lithuanian Christmas Eve celebration. She delighted in the traditional food preparation, setting of the table, preparing rooms for guests and being with all those who she loved, sharing stories and special bonds.

She is survived by her loving husband Bruce Seager, brother Arunas and wife Kathy Avizius, brother Algis Avizius, aunt Birute Preikstas, cousins Darius Preikstas, Barbara McNulty-Preikstas and nephew Vincent Preikstas.

Friends are invited to join the family to celebrate Rasa's life on September 16th, Saturday @ Joe's Restaurant, 602 W. Buffalo Street in Ithaca from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A very special thank you to the wonderful staff, volunteers, and gardeners at Hospicare for the exceptional care they provided during Rasa's lengthy stay. We ask that donations be forwarded to : Hospicare 172 East King Road, Ithaca, New York 14850.
